Happy New Year! Start your year off right with a rejuvenating hike. Take your family or a friend and connect with the beautiful nature the Bay Area has to offer. Just be sure to put on some comfy sneakers and don’t forget to hydrate. Enclosed in this blog is a list of some of the area’s most spectacular trails nearby.

  1. Nimitz Way Trail at Inspiration Point

This is an 8.4-mile loop that offers incredible views of the entire park. Some of the Nimitz trails are paved which is perfect for both hiking and biking. However, dogs are not allowed on the part of Wildcat Creek Trail. My suggestion is to start at the Inspiration Point parking lot and choose a route from there.

  1. Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve

This site is home to an ancient volcano so you could say East Bay residents have a volcano in their backyard! If you want to reach the top and take in the stunning scenery, I recommend hiking the Round Top Loop Trail or the Volcanic Trail. Additionally, trails are self-guided, and dogs are also allowed on certain hikes.

  1. Filbert Steps

For my city-dwellers in San Francisco, a beautiful hike up the Filbert Street Steps is perfect! The Filbert Steps are a great way to get up to the Coit Tower and get that remarkable panoramic view. According to most Easy Bay residents, this is a tough climb, and many suggest to Uber up to the Coit Tower then walk down to the steps. Don’t forget to check out the Grace Marchant Garden which is open to the public.

  1. Glen Canyon Park

A park that’s tucked away in the heart of the city. The Glen Canyon Park is home to beautiful views, easy hikes, and great rocks to climb. A hidden gem that is dog-friendly and ideal for a short jog. I strongly encourage a walk near sunset, you won’t regret it!
